Les Paul Conversions

Brian is renowned for his incredibly authentic '59 Les Paul conversions.

The typical approach is to start with a genuine solid mahogany Gibson Les Paul body - any year is fine - but it must be solid - and it must be an authentic Gibson - not a copy. Brian builds the rest, including his ever popular '59 neck.

The conversion pictured below started as a ’79 Les Paul Deluxe, but because it had a solid, 1-piece, mahogany body it was a perfect candidate for a conversion. A new ’59 profile long tenon 1-piece mahogany neck was made and fitted, then the body was capped with a flamed Michigan maple top. A brazilian rosewood fretboard was made from an original 50′s blank. It is equipped with aged nickel hardware, including some original old Grover machine heads. The pickups are Peter Florence Voodoo’s (although we now use Lollar pickups). The finish is Tea Burst in Nitrocellulose sightly aged and checked.
